FAQ
The handheld Onnetsu device shuts down automatically after 1 hour of use. Does that mean 1 hour is the maximum exposure a person can take?
The devices automatically turn off after 60 minutes of use for safety of the user. Pressing the On button restarts the 60 minute duration.
You can be rest assured that there is no maximum exposure threshold for the Onnetsu handheld devices. The only caution the user should take is to make sure that the heat is not too excessive to cause discomfort for the person and not to burn the skin by applying for an excessive duration.
The device's max temperature is capped at the indicated max temp. on the top left area of the controller body. During use it could decrease in temperature(3-5ºC) depending on how cold the part of your body the heating pad is currently placed on. The device will slowly and automatically heat up to cap at max temperature.
The Radon utilized by the OCN-K Onnetsu device promotes the immune system and gives long term beneficial effects of chronic pain relief to those experiencing disease or injury.1
The emission of Radon from the OCN-K is intentional and its output is very minimal, strictly under life harming threshold. It is widely known that large amounts of radiation are harmful to human bodies. However, small amounts are actually beneficial to us. This is best explained by the hormesis phenomenon, which is a term used by toxicologists to refer to a biphasic dose response to an environmental agent characterized by a low dose stimulation or beneficial effect and a high dose inhibitory or toxic effect.2
There are a number of ‘Radon’ spas around the globe, most notably in the US, Germany and Japan. A well-known radon spa in Japan called Misasa Spring emit miniscule amounts of radon and has helped cure countless number of people ill with diseases and the hospitals use similar radiation treatments for the patients.

It is completely fine to use the Onnetsu device on itchy areas as long as there are no signs of inflammation, in which case we recommend the inflamed area to cool down first, then when conditions are stable we recommend using lower heat to prevent discomfort or burns.
As long as the application of the device isn’t excessive to cause discomfort or burns, the duration can be as long as the user wants. Pro-longed therapies that lasts more than an hour or two is perfectly fine although we caution the users to keep hydrated and to not exert too much effort, as a relaxed body is proven to be more receptive to therapies in general.
Can the 1 hour automatic shutdown timer on the Onnetsu handheld devices be changed or turned off?
The automatic shutdown timer duration cannot be changed. As a safety precaution, the automatic shutdown itself cannot be turned off as it can prevent burns if the user were to fall asleep while using the device.
What does the digits at the top left and right side of the control box of the handheld Onnetsu devices mean?
The left digit shows the max temperature the user can set(40 – 75oC for the KMW-2000 and 40 – 70oC for the OCN-K). The right digit shows the current temperature of the surface of the handheld device’s heating pad.
